BELLEVUE, Neb. -- For the second time this season Bellevue University senior Braulio Torres-Perez (Auburn, Wash.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week. The announcement came earlier today.
Torres-Perez was dominant in a complete-game shutout over Dickinson State in game two of a triple-header on Friday afternoon. In his lone start of the week, he limited the Blue Hawks to just three hits – including two infield singles – while striking out five batters.
Torres-Perez, a 2015 MCAC Scholar-Athlete, improved his record to 5-0 on the season while lowering his ERA to 1.82 which includes a pair of complete-game shutouts. He has recorded 42 strikeouts in 49.1 innings of work.
The honor is the second of his career with the first coming on Mar. 14 following a no-hit effort against St. Ambrose. His next scheduled start is likely to come on Sunday in the first game of a conference double-header against Dakota State.
The Bruins host the Trojans in a four-game set this weekend. Game times are set for 1 p.m. at Westgate Field on Saturday and noon at Roddy Field (Bellevue East HS) on Sunday.
