MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue junior right-hander Todd Nicks has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference.
Nicks tossed a complete game three-hitter in No. 3 Bellevue's 9-1 win over Valley City State on Sunday afternoon. He struck out a career-high nine batters in seven innings of work and walked just two. Bellevue won all three games they played on the week to improve to 34-6 overall (12-1 NSAA).
On the season, Nicks is 7-1 in nine appearances (all starts) with a 3.09 ERA over 46.2 innings of work. He's averaging just under a strikeout per inning with 46 strikeouts against 20 walks. He owns a WHIP of 1.028 and opponents are hitting just .194 off him.
The Bruins wrap up their four-game set with Valley City today with games at noon and 2 p.m. They host Waldorf for a four-game set over the week, including Senior Day at Roddy Field on Sunday.
