BELLEVUE, Neb. -- With the Minor League Baseball season in full-swing, here is the latest Bellevue University professional baseball update.

Affiliated Leagues:

Galli Cribbs, Hillsboro Hops (A- affiliated of the Arizona Diamondbacks)

            Cribbs is in his second year of pro ball and has split time between Class A ball and short-season Class A ball. In 20 games played he has recorded a .150 batting average with a triple, four RBI, and nine runs scored. He's posted an on-base percentage of .261. Cribbs has been solid in the field shifting between second base and shortstop, he's committed just three errors on the season for a .942 fielding percentage.

Brennan Henry, Lexington Legends (A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals)

            Henry has split time between Rookie and Class A ball this season, appearing in 13 games in total. After working to the tune of a 1.69 ERA in 5.1 innings with Idaho Falls, Henry earned the promotion to Lexington. With Lexington he's appeared in nine games where he's thrown 20.0 innings with a 1-3 record and 4.95 ERA. However, he's held opponents to a .253 batting average.

Kyle Kinman, Mississippi Braves (AA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves)

            Kinman continues to fly through the minors following a promotion to AA this week. He has been promoted twice this year after starting the season in Class A ball. In two appearances since his most recent call up Kinman has worked a pair of scoreless innings, striking out three batters to negate the three baserunners he's allowed. In 31 appearances across three minor league levels this season Kinman has logged 39.1 innings, going 1-0 with 12 saves and a 1.60 ERA. He's struck out 49 (11.21 K/9) and allowed just 48 hitters to reach via hit or walk for a 1.22 WHIP.

Stephan Meyer, West Virginia Black Bears (A- affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates)

            Meyer has made one start for the Black Bears after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 18th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. In 2.2 innings he struck out a pair and gave up one run on five hits. He currently owns a 3.38 ERA but has been dealing with an injury, although he seems to be nearing a return to the diamond.

Independent Leagues:

Dan Coury, Long Island Ducks

            Coury has played for two teams in the Atlantic League this season, starting the year with the Lancaster Barnstormers before being acquired by the Long Island Ducks. Between the two stops he's hitting .214 but has shown power with four home runs in 116 plate appearances to date. He has 11 RBI and nine runs scored while primarily serving as the backup catcher.

Peter Gehle, Schaumburg Boomers

            Gehle has played for both the Lake Erie Crushers and Schaumburg Boomers this year, with both teams hailing from the Frontier League. In nine appearances on the bump – all starts – Gehle is 2-3 with a 5.60 ERA. He's thrown 45.0 innings, striking out 26 batters.

Osvaldo Gonzalez, Florence Freedom

            Gonzalez has had a solid first season playing professionally with Florence. His batting average may be .227 but he's posted a .317 on-base percentage and has shown flashes of power at the next level with five doubles. He's also driven in eight runs and scored six of his own while splitting time behind the dish.

Matty Johnson, Sioux City Explorers

            Johnson has seen action in 63 games so far this season, helping the Explorers to first place in their division. He's slashed .259/.334/338 (AVG/OBP/SLG) in 300 plate appearances, driving in 27 runs and scoring 52. He's hit eight doubles, five triples, and a home run showing he has more tools than just his speed (he's managed to swipe 22 bases). Johnson has been flawless in the field, handling 160 chances in center field without error.

Steve Sarcone, Kansas City T-Bones - Link coming soon ...

            Sarcone signed with the Kansas City T-Bones last week. He's yet to make an appearance with the club but with almost six weeks left in the regular season he has plenty of time to make his debut and help the club hold onto their current Wild Card spot.

Bellevue went 46-15 (18-6 MCAC) this past season while winning the final MCAC Tournament and hosting the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. The Bruins reached the final game in the Opening Round Tournament before falling to Tabor College. This coming season the Bruins begin play in the North Star Athletic Association.
