BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Trevor Jones, Joe Moran, Derik Bontempo, and Joe Mancuso combined to go 27-for-40 (.675) on the afternoon, driving in 22 runs and scoring 18 while pounding out 10 extra-base hits in Saturday afternoon's North Star Athletic Association triple-header at Roddy Field. The No. 2 Bellevue University baseball team won two of three games on the day to clinch the season series against the Warriors.

Bellevue won game one, 16-0, on the strength of a combined no-hitter. Waldorf jumped ahead early and withstood a furious BU rally to win 7-6 in game two. The Bruins responded by claiming a 12-1 victory in game three to take three of four games on the weekend.

Bellevue now stands at 39-7 (17-2 North Star) on the season. Waldorf is 16-28 (12-8 North Star).

Bellevue plays their next six on the road before returning home for their Tanner's Day game against Briar Cliff at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Check the BUBruins.com website early next week for more information on the Tanner's Day game.

Game One:

Bellevue's Todd Nicks hurled five hitless innings before giving way to John Timmins and Connor Chick as the Bruins no-hit Waldorf in game one en route to a 16-0 win.

Trevor Jones was 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored, including his third home run of the year serving as a table setter for the Bruins.

BU's first three batters of the game all reached and came around to score in the opening inning as Bellevue scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings and never looked back.

The third inning proved decisive with BU scoring seven times in the frame.

Joe Moran, Derik Bontempo, John King, and Joe Mancuso each had multi-hit games in the opener.

Nicks (8-1, 2.79) worked the first five innings of the no-no, striking out nine and walking one. Timmins threw a perfect sixth that included a pair of strikeouts and Chick struck out the side in the seventh to finish up the effort.

Game Two:

Waldorf snapped Bellevue's 10-game win streak with a 7-6 victory in game two. The Warriors jumped to a 7-1 lead and held on despite a late Bruin rally.

The Warriors used three-run first and fourth innings to mount a six-run lead.

Bellevue battled to the end, scoring a run in each the fifth and sixth innings to pull within 7-3 and give themselves a chance in the seventh.

It looked like magic may occur as Bellevue put the tying run on base in the frame with just one out. Derik Bontempo greeted closer Trevor Bauer rather rudely with a double to drive in a run. But Bauer settled down and induced a pair of ground outs to end the game.

Joe Moran, Bontempo, and Trevor Jones each went for multiple hits in game two.

Starter Braulio Torres-Perez (7-1, 2.69) suffered his first loss of the season after getting roughed up in the early going.

Mike Keeran earned the win with 6.1 effective innings and Bauer came on to record the final two outs to notch the save.

Game Three:

Bellevue used a nine-run second inning to jump on the Warriors as they cruised to a 12-1 victory to wrap up the season series.

The Bruins came out with a high level of contagious energy with eight players recorded at least one hit in the game.

After four innings of play, Bellevue led 12-0 and Waldorf would scratch out just one run in the sixth inning to avoid the shutout.

Derik Bontempo, Colton Nash, Joe Mancuso, John Kings, and Connor Garrison each had multi-hit games to wrap up the day. Nash and Mancuso hit their second and third home run, respectively.

Aaron Bain (4-0, 2.62) worked five scoreless innings for the win. He struck out seven and scattered four hits. Blake Phelps and Kevin Rodriguez came out of the bullpen to secure the win.
