The Bruin baseball program, under the direction of head coach Duane Monlux, announced today the signing of 6-3, 165-pound right-handed pitcher Sawyer Bierscheid (La Center, Wash./La Center HS) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2016.

Bierscheid compiled a 2.64 ERA during the 2015 varsity season at La Center (Wash.) High School. He started in nine games and had four complete games, while registering 47 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 47 innings pitched.

"We are excited to have added Sawyer to our program at Bellevue University," said Monlux. "He is a good student and shows real upside on the mound. He possesses good fastball command with the ability to strike people out. We are excited to see how he progresses in a Bruin uniform."

The Bruins are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 36-6 overall record and a league-leading 14-1 mark in the North Star Athletic Association.
