Bruins ranked fifth in first in-season NAIA Coaches’ Poll

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University is ranked fifth nationally in the first edition of the 2016 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Bruins currently sport a 17-4 record after winning nine of 11 games on their trip to Florida. BU has been led by a potent offense that is scoring 6.90 runs per game while collectively hitting at a .326 clip. To date Bellevue has out-scored their opposition by a 145-93 margin.

The ranking is their highest since the 2008 Preseason Poll and their highest in-season ranking since May 11, 2005 when they were ranked No. 4.

Faulkner (Ala.) tops the poll, splitting first place votes with second place Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). Georgia Gwinnett is third and they are followed by Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) and Bellevue who are separated by a single point.

Bellevue returns to play on Saturday, Mar. 19 when they host Northwestern College in a 1 p.m. double-header.
