The second-ranked Bellevue University baseball team was awarded the top-seed in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round Bracket from May 17-20 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The tournament will be hosted by Davenport University
The Bruins will be joined by No 2-seed York (Neb.) College, No. 3-seed Davenport University, No. 4-seed Clarke University and No. 5-seed St. Xavier University.
Bellevue is ranked No. 2 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. York is 12th and Davenport is currently receiving votes. The Bruins earned the automatic berth into the National Tournament by winning both the North Star Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles.
Bellevue will battle the winner between Clarke and St. Xavier at 4 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, May 17.
No. 1 – Bellevue University (47-9/20-3 NSAA) – NSAA Regular Season & Tournament Champion
No. 2 – York College (44-15/28-8 KCAC) - KCAC Co-Regular Season Champion & Tournament Runner-up
No. 3 – Davenport University (41-15/25-6 WHAC) - At-Large, Tournament Host
No. 4 – Clarke University (37-15) - Unaffilliated Group Tournament Runner-Up
No. 5 – St. Xavier University (30-24/17-12 CCAC) - CCAC Tournament Champion
There are nine NAIA National Tournament Opening Round sites and the winners of each of the Opening Round Brackets will advance to the Avista NAIA World Series where they will join host Lewis & Clark State College at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho on May 27-June 3.
