Third time's a charm as Torres-Perez wins Pitcher of the Week again

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- For the third time this season, Bellevue University senior left-hander Braulio Torres-Perez has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week award as announced by the conference.

Braulio Torres-Perez continued his dominating 2016 campaign. Torres-Perez did his part during No. Bellevue's 4-1 week, masterfully crafting a three-hitter in a 6-0 victory over Viterbo on Sunday. He went the first 8.1 innings before being lifted for Bruins' closer Leland Tilley. He struck out seven against just one walk and opponents his just .107 off him as he picked up his seventh win of the year.

He was credited with the win and on the season, Torres-Perez is now 7-0 (in nine starts) with a 1.48 ERA. He's struck out 55 batters in 66.2 innings of work and tossed three complete games. Opponents are hitting just .186 off him and he has a WHIP of 0.825.

Torres-Perez was previously named NSAA Pitcher of the Week on March 14 and March 28.

The Bruins are in the midst of a 10-game road trip and they will play at Morningside tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa. BU took three of four over the weekend at Viterbo in conference play and sit just a half game back of Jamestown in the conference standings.
