OMAHA, Neb. -- The fifth-ranked Bellevue University baseball team behind the left arm of Braulio Torres-Perez shutout Dickinson State University 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the second game of a North Star Athletic Association triple-header at Westgate Field.

Torres-Perez (5-0, 1.82) picked up the win, scattering three hits on striking out five.

Bellevue wasted no time getting on the board in the opening inning. Trevor Jones led off with a single and came home on a hit-and-run single from Colton Nash that was misplayed in left for the early 1-0 Bruin advantage.

BU struck again in the third, putting each of their first two batters on before a ground ball double play, but a wild pitch allowed Jones to come home and double the lead to 2-0.

Trevor Jones singled in Matt Evans with two outs in the bottom of the fourth for the third Bruin run of the game. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Nash worked a full count before drawing a walk to force in another run and chase starter Jason Thibault.

The Bruins will complete the triple-header at 4:45 p.m. today.
