  • Six honored with major awards at 48th Annual BU Athletics Banquet

    Eve Fountain (volleyball) and Madison Nelson (cross country/distance track) were named the co-Female Athletes of the Year. Andy Wilkinson (men's socder) and Elijah Johnson (baseball) were the co-Male Athletes of the Year. Tylah Saifoloi (women's golf) and Tibor Stankovic (men's soccer) were honored as the Academic Athletes of the Year.
  • Four-Time Olympian Barbosa joins Bruins Cross Country/Track Staff

    Josè Luiz Barbosa, a Brazilian native and former Olympic 800-meter distance runner, joined the Bellevue University cross country and track teams this week as an assistant coach, stated Bruin head coach Craig Christians. 
  • Nelson Exceeds/Debesh Falls Short of NAIA Half Marathon Standard

    Freshman Madison Nelson became BU’s first national qualifier in the marathon at Saturday’s Midland Half Marathon in Fremont. Temperatures around 40 degrees and a stiff breeze greeted the field of 65 runners from NAIA schools from Nebraska, Iowa, and the Dakotas.  The course is laid out to give the runners a tailwind for most of the distance and 20 men and a dozen women met qualifying standards. 
  • Nelson top NSAA runner at NAIA National Championships

    Freshman Madison Nelson, this season's NSAA individual champion, got her first taste of championship competition in a deep field of 338 runners.

    Chris Casart and Peyton Anthony will represent the Bruin men. NSAA champion Madison Nelson will compete for the BU women.
  • Madison Nelson captures Conference Cross Country Crown

    The rolling hills and blustery winds did nothing to slow the Bruin's Madison Nelson as she rolled to an NSAA championship victory today at the Platteview Golf Course. She was the first Bruin individual NSAA champion in any distance running event. Bellevue was hosting the meet for the first time and the challenging course enabled Nelson to jump to a lead early and she never looked back, finishing with a convincing 25 second victory margin. Her time of 19:58.4, just seconds from her season-best, was a remarkable time considering the hills and wind.
  • Bruin Women Turn in Season-Best Times at Mount Marty Invite

    Three of five Bruin women running Saturday’s Mount Marty Cross Country Invite turned in season-best times while two others were just seconds from their own season records. As a team, the Bruins also posted a season-best team time, averaging 21:05 for the five-kilometer distance.
  • Shorthanded Bruin Women perform well at Holiday Inn Express Classic

    Individually, Lorelei Hayden continued her comeback from injury running to 53rd place among the 105 finishers. Her time of 21:08.8 was nearly a half-minute faster than last week’s run at Briar Cliff. Sarah Felten was the second runner for the Bruins placing 74th in 22:05.3. Ali Hobbs, also coming back from a lengthy injury period, was able to put together another solid race as she finished 80th in a time of 22:14.1
  • Bruin Women Harriers have best outing of the season at Briar Cliff

    The Bruins finished eighth of eleven scoring teams with NCAA Division I South Dakota winning easily with a low score of 25.
  • Nelson Records Podium Finish for Bruins at Wayne State

    The Bellevue University women’s cross country team had another good showing Friday, finishing just thirteen points behind Division II SW Minnesota State at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State.
  • Nelson earns second NSAA Cross Country Runner of the Week honor

    Nelson ran a lifetime best of 19 minutes, 41.4 seconds to finish 94th for the Bruins in the Greeno/Dirksen Invite, hosted by NCAA Division I Nebraska and NCAA Division III Nebraska Wesleyan. The field featured seven NCAA Division I teams, with a total of 213 runners in the 5K race.  She was five seconds from the school record and 12th best among NAIA entrants in the race.
  • Nelson just short of Bruin school record at Greeno/Dirksen Invite

    Freshman Madison Nelson was just five seconds from the Bruin school record for five kilometers as she covered the course in 19:41.4, good for 94th place among 206 finishers.
  • Nelson named NSAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

    Freshman Madison Nelson (Plattsmouth, Neb.) was selected as the North Star Athletic Association's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance last week at the Bill Buxton Invitational hosted by Simpson (Iowa) College in Indianola, Iowa. 
  • Nelson leads Bruins at Cross Country Season Opener

    Madison Nelson’s fifth-place finish highlighted the Bruin cross country season opener at the Bill Buxton Invitational hosted by Simpson College. Nelson was one of four newcomers running for the Bruins, leading the team to a third-place finish among four teams.
