BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University senior Jamie Henderson (Lincolnshire, England) has been named North Star Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week in men's soccer as announced by the NSAA.

In a 4-2 victory over Morningside on Sunday Henderson got the scoring started with a beautiful header in the 27th minute to stake the Bruins to a 1-0 lead. A minute later he recorded the first of two assists on the day with a pass to sophomore Daniel Coupland to help double the BU advantage to 2-0. In the final minute of the first half he played a cross into the box to support the eventual game-winner by senior Tobias Maertzke.

The award marks the completion of a rare double in the awards category. He becomes the first known Bruin to be named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week during the same season. Earlier this season (Sept. 1), Henderson was named NSAA Defensive Player of the Week. Henderson has since made the switch from defender to center forward where he has excelled. The skipper has scored three goals and assisted on three others for a total of nine points this season. He ranks second on the team in all three offensive categories. His 29 shots lead the team while he's tied for the team lead in shots on goal with 16.

The 11th-ranked Bruins (6-2-2) return to the pitch when they host Viterbo at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Senior Day ceremonies will precede the match.
