Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-9 outside hitter Alyssa Frederick from Falls City, Neb. (Falls City HS). Frederick is the third signee in the Bruins' 2017 class.

Frederick, the daughter of Keith and Julie Frederick, was a four-year starting middle blocker under her mother Julie at Falls City HS. She was a three-time honorable mention all-state selection by the Omaha World-Herald and the Lincoln Journal-Star

A two-year team captain, Frederick recorded a team-leading 433 kills, 411 digs, 122 blocks and 28 service aces this season. She set school records with 1,042 career kills and 929 total digs.

A versatile athlete, Frederick earned honorable mention all-state honors in basketball and was the team's leading scorer and rebounder the last two seasons. She also set the school single-season record with 50 3-pointers. Frederick was also a four-year letterwinner in track.

She played club volleyball at Nebraska Elevate under coach Sondra Westenburg.

"I saw Alyssa playing against another prospective recruit," said Siedlik. "She has good knowledge of the court, is aggressive, and I firmly believe she has a high ceiling. She has had to play a position that she would not normally play in college. So transitioning from the middle to the outside only has made her a more marketable player. She is a wonderful young lady and we are excited to see her grow into the collegiate game."

An excellent student, Frederick earned academic all-state honors in 2015 and 2016. She was also a four-year member of the school's Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society.

Frederick joins earlier signees 5-8 outside hitter Andrea Carson (Ord, Neb./Ord HS) and 5-6 defensive specialist Cheyenne Mahnke (Fremont, Neb./Arlington HS).

The Bruins finished the 2016 season with a 32-12 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the ninth time in school history.
