ANKENY, Iowa -- Led by Ana Laura Gomez' individual title, the Bellevue University women's golf team captured the team title Tuesday at the Grand View Viking Classic at the Otter Creek Golf Club.
The Bruins finished the day with a team total of 331 and a two-day total of 643, 15 shots better than second place Grand View University. It marked the program's first-ever tournament victory.
Gomez was the tournament's medialist, finishing with a two-day total of 154 (76-78). Christina VonRiesen finished in a tie for second with a score of 155 (73-82). Jayme Harmelink was fifth with a total of 162 (79-83). Gomez, VonRiesen, and Harmelink were all named to the all-tournament team.
Other BU scores included: Taylor Byers 172 (84-88) and Dawn Florance 183 (86-97).
The Bruins will compete in Midland Warrior Fall Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 27 in Fremont, Neb.
