OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla -- In the Bruins' inaugural event, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in third place after the first day of competition at the Southwestern Christian University Fall Invitational. The tournament marked the first event for the Bruins in their first year of competition. 

As a team, the Bruins shot a 327 (+35) and trail Southern Nazarene University (305, +13) and are two shots back from Oklahoma Baptist University (325, +33) 

The Bruins were led by Ana Laura Gomez, who shot a two-over par round of 75. Gomez is currently tied for second place in the individual standings. 

Christina VonRiesen is +4 (77) and in fourth place. Rounding out the BU scoring were Taylor Byers (85), and Jayme Harmelink (90).  

The tournament, which is being held at the Lake Hefner Golf Course will conclude on Wednesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
