Bliemeister named NSAA Player of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- Sophomore shortstop Ellie Bliemeister has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Softball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 28. It marked the first time in her career she has garnered the honor. 

Bliemeister helped the Bruins to a 3-3 record on the week where she batted .500 in the Bruins' six games. She was 8-of-16 at the plate and scored five runs. Bliemeister registered a slugging percentage of 1.250 after drilling three doubles and smashing three home runs. She also drove in five runs and reached on base by a walk two times.

Bellevue split three doubleheaders on the week. The Bruins split with Doane (Neb.) at PC Dome on Feb. 22, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the second game 10-2. BU also split on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 in Nevada, Mo. Bellevue lost to Cottey (Mo.) in both games 3-2 and 5-4 in eight innings. The Bruins swept Langston (Okla.) 9-0 and 10-2, both games in five innings. Bellevue has a 7-6 overall record on the season. 

The Bruins will head to Kissimmee, Fla. on Mar. 7-12 to compete in The Spring Games. BU is scheduled to play 10 games in Florida before returning on Mar. 15 for its home debut against Dickinson State in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
