Soccer Match to Benefit Wounded Warriors Family Support

Wounded Warriors Family Support Event Quick Facts

A rivalry soccer match between Bellevue University and Hastings College will benefit Wounded Warriors Family Support.

The two men’s soccer teams will square off in the 2012 Wounded Warriors Family Support Face-Off, set for Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at Tranquility Park. Admission to the game, as well as proceeds from raffles and donations collected during the game will all go towards Wounded Warriors Family Support, whose mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.

“The Bellevue University-Hastings College match is always hotly contested and showcases a great deal of local talent,” said Matt Briggs, Bellevue University men's soccer coach. “With Bellevue’s strong military ties, we thought this would be good opportunity for us to give back to those soldiers and their families who sacrificed so much to protect our everyday freedoms.”

Hastings captured the 2010 NAIA national championship and finished as national runner-up in 2011.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

“The communities of Bellevue and Hastings share a strong military history, and it’s fitting that this game would benefit wounded veterans and their families,” said Col. John Folsom, founder of Wounded Warriors Family Support. “We want to thank Coach Briggs and the Bellevue University men’s soccer program for their support of military families.”

Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent non-profit organization that provides support to the families of U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. For more information, visit www.wwfs.org.
