BU falls on late Waldorf goal

PAPILLION, Neb. -- For the second time in as many game the Bellevue University men's soccer team fell victim to a second half strike from Guilherme Alencar as the Bruins fell to Waldorf University 1-0 on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Papillion Landing.

Records:

Bellevue: 7-9-2
Waldorf: 10-5-1

Recap: Waldorf 1, Bellevue 0

Bellevue out-shot Waldorf 13-11 but Guilherme Alencar finally snuck a shot into the back of the net in the 88th minute to give Waldorf a win over BU.

Waldorf managed to put just two shots on frame, one coming from Alencar and the other from Howard Sturgeon.

Inaki Aldao, John Cover, Nate Fibich, and Federico Umani Ronchi all put shots on goal for the Bruins but Bellevue was unable to solve Raul Guillamon-Bejar who turned away all four attempts.

Corner kicks were level at two at the half and the Bruins held a slight 5-3 advantage in shots.

The second half saw BU and Waldorf each put up eight shots with Waldorf winning a 2-1 advantage in corners.

With the game seemingly destined for overtime, Alencar took a pass from Anthonio Coletto in the 88th minute and beat Bruin keeper Harry Wray for the game's lone goal.

This result comes just over one week after falling on a 54th minute strike from Alencar in Forest City.
