OMAHA, Neb. -- Carlos Ferrer scored twice in the first half to lead Concordia University to a 3-1 victory over the (RV) Bellevue University men's soccer team on Tuesday evening at Tranquility Park.

Records:

(RV) Bellevue: 4-6-0

Recap: Concordia 3, Bellevue 1

Carlos Ferrer scored in the 13th and 25th minutes to stake Concordia to an early lead. After taking a pass and advancing up the field, he unleashed a shot across the goal and inside the far post for a 1-0 CUNE lead.

Roger De la villa played a ball ahead to Ferrer from the middle of the field in the 25th minute that Ferrer used the outside of his foot to tap into goal and double the Bulldog advantage.

The Bruins had a goal waved off in the 32nd minute. Joel Roesler played Andy Janssen into the box and Ricky Reyes banged home the rebound chance but the linesman flagged BU for offside on the play.

Carlos Orquiz added a third goal for Concordia in the 39th minute after one-time a cross from Garrett Perry back across the goal.

Alex Cuenca nearly got the Bruins on the board in the 59th minute but his shot – seemingly destined for the back of the net – was snagged by a diving Eduardo Alba.

Cuenca finally pulled a goal back for the Bruins in the 84th minute when he hit a free kick low and to the far post.

Bellevue out-shot CUNE 12-8 and won five corner kicks to the Bulldogs' two on the evening.
