Janssen honored as A.I.I. Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University freshman forward/midfielder Andy Janssen has been named the Association of Independent Institutions' (A.I.I.) Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the Week of Sept. 9-15.

Andy Janssen -- Player of the Week

Janssen led the Bruins to a pair of victories last week, scoring in each of the Bruins' games. He secured the game-winner in a 1-0 overtime win over Briar Cliff on Wednesday and provided an insurance tally in a 3-0 win over Northwestern on Saturday evening.

Against Briar Cliff Janssen broke a scoreless tie in the 97th minute. He corralled loose ball in the box following a cross and toe poked the ball into the back of the vacated net for the Golden Goal.

In the win over Northwestern, Janssen scored in the 56th minute. After an initial shot caromed off the post, he received a pass at the edge of the box and tucked a shot inside the far post to effectively seal the victory.

Janssen leads the Bruins with four goals on the season and has scored in each of the team's last two games.
