BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University men's soccer coach Mark Heath-Preston announced today that former Bruin Scott Robertson will return to the program as assistant coach for the 2019 season.
Robertson joins Heath-Preston's staff from Nebraska Christian College where he most recently served as the Sentinels associate men's soccer coach for two seasons.
Prior to his position at NCC, Robertson was the assistant men's soccer coach at Hastings College. In two years at Hastings, he helped the Broncos to a 38-4-4 record including an undefeated 2016 season (24-0-1) which saw them capture the NAIA National Championship. Hastings recorded undefeated league records in both 2015 and 2016 to earn back-to-back GPAC Championships.
Part of his duties at Hastings saw him serve as both the men's and women's goalkeeper's coach. He coached and aided in the development of 2016 NAIA National Tournament MVP, All-American, and Defensive Player of the Year Joe White, 2016 GPAC Defensive Player of the Year Emma Toohey, and 2015 NAIA All-American and Defensive Player of the Year Alex Guyer.
Robertson also brings a wealth of youth and developmental experience to the Bruins having coached as an assistant at Elkhorn South High School (2014), with the Nebraska Olympic Development Program (2014-15, 2017), and at Gretna Soccer Club (2017).
During his time at BU, Robertson was a first team all-MCAC selection and Scholar-Athlete as he anchored the team's 2014 defense between the posts. He helped lead the Bruins to consecutive MCAC Tournament Championships in 2013 and 2014 as well as the 2014 MCAC Regular-Season title.
As a senior, he started 17 games leading the team to a 12-3-2 mark in those games posting a goals against average of 0.70 and an .824 save percentage. Bellevue reached the NAIA National Tournament in each of his seasons at BU and defeated Hastings during 2014 to reach the Final Site in West Palm Beach, Fla.

BU completed the first unbeaten regular season in school history in 2018 en route to a final record of 18-2-2. The Bruins reached the A.I.I. Championship Game, hosted an NAIA National Tournament Opening Round match for the first time in program history, and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Round of 16 in Irvine, Calif.
The Bruins open their 2019 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Morningside College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa.
