Gebelhoff signs with Bellevue Soccer

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team, under Mark Heath-Preston, announced today the signing of Emil Gebelhoff (Cologne, Germany) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2018.

Gebelhoff is the son of Stefan Gebelhoff and Surk-ki Schrade. He plays for FC Hennef in the Mittelrheinliga/Regionalliga (Germany's fourth tier) under head coach David Gsella.

He began his soccer development with the Fortuna Cologne Academy where he recorded 15 goals and 20 assists. Additionally, Gebelhoff was twice selected for the Mittelrheinliga regional team. At Bellevue, he intends to major in Psychology.

Coach Heath-Preston on Gebelhoff:

"We are excited to bring Emil to Bellevue University as he is technically very gifted, has great vision, and is smart off the ball. With his experience in Germany, we look forward to seeing him make an immediate impact, both on the field and off, when he joins us in the fall."

Gebelhoff joins earlier signees Harry Atkins (Norwich, Norfolk, England), Alexis Martinez (Omaha, Neb.), and Kortlan Franke (Gretna, Neb.) in the Bruins' 2018 recruiting class.

This past season the Bruins posted an overall mark of 8-7-2 (4-0-0) en route to securing their fourth-straight regular-season league title.
