BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University men's soccer senior captain Jamie Henderson was named North Star Athletic Association men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the NSAA. Henderson becomes the first Bruin – in any sport – to be named Player of the Week by the North Star.

Henderson, a second team all-MCAC selection last year, had a quality week leading the bruins to a pair of victories. In a 4-2 victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday he scored twice, including a last-minute strike to seal the match and end a JWU rally. His defensive prowess was on full display in a 1-0 victory over Warner Pacific on Thursday night as a Henderson was part of a line that conceded just on shot in the match as Bellevue picked up their second successive clean sheet to open the season.

Bellevue, in their first year in the North Star, has opened up the season 2-0-1 with the draw coming against No. 4 Grand View in the season-opener. The No. 14 Bruins return to the pitch on Friday for a 4 p.m. match against (RV) Hope International at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
