SALT LAKE CITY -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the year with a 2-0 shutout at Westminster College Friday afternoon in the Westminster Invite.
Bellevue (1-2) will conclude the tournament on Sunday (Sept. 1) with an 12 p.m. (CST) contest against Bethesda Christian. Westminster fell to 2-1 on the season with the loss.
Ryan Beasley gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 34:33 when he scored from 10 yards out off a pass from Corey Smith. Rob Jackson scored his second goal of the season in the 77th minute when he collected a loose ball in the box and scored from 12 yards out to make it 2-0.
Ben Martin (1-2) recorded his first career shutout with three saves in 90 minutes in goal.
