HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team opened the 2013 season with a 2-0 loss at William Carey University Saturday at the WCU Soccer Complex.
WCU struck first on Alex Mallion's goal 9:32 into the match.
The Crusaders added a goal by Mohamed Degheb at 63:29 off an assist from Luis Trude.
Charlie Laridan got the shutout win for WCU, collecting eight saves. Ben Martin tallied nine saves in the loss.
Jamie Henderson led the Bruins with four shots, including two on goal.
The Bruins will conclude the tournament on Sunday (Aug. 25) with a 3 p.m. match against Savannah College of Arts & Design.
