Bellevue University head men's soccer coach Matt Briggs announced today the signing of Jake Williams (Hale, England) to a letter of intent to join the Bruins for the 2013 season.

Williams attended North Cestrian Grammar School and Loreto College, playing under coach Wayne Pybus. He recorded five goals and four assists during his senior season and 11 goals and seven assists for his career.

He was a two-time High School Athlete of the Year recipient in 2009-10 and 2010-11.

Williams played club soccer for Glossop North End under coach Garry Brown and for Manchester City Football Club for six years.

"We couldn't be happier to sign Jake," said Briggs. "He has all the qualities that a modern day full back needs, an appetite to join in when going forward, while also remembering his defensive responsibilities. We are looking forward to having Jake join us for the 2013 season."

Williams is the son of Jane and Paul Williams. Paul is a former professional soccer player in England.

A versatile athlete, Williams also qualified for the national championships in cross country and the 400-meter race in track.

Williams joins earlier signee Ben Martin (Lincolnshire, England).

Bellevue ended the 2012 season with a 10-8-1 overall record. The Bruins finished second in the MCAC regular season standings with a 5-1 conference mark and also placed second in the MCAC Tournament to No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
