Bruins add Martin to men's soccer recruiting class

Bellevue head men's soccer coach Matt Briggs announced today his first signee in the 2013 recruiting class, Ben Martin of Lincolnshire, England.

Martin, a 6-0 goalkeeper, played for head coach John Priestly at Lincoln College, where he was named a first team player's player of the year. He is the son of Nick and Sharon Martin.

"We are delighted to sign Ben," said Briggs. "He, along with many of our players, comes from North Lincolnshire College and has been touted to be the best keeper to come from that program."

Martin also played for Boston Town club team. He did not allow a goal in all eight matches of a tournament in Holland, playing some of the top teams from England, Denmark, Scotland, and Holland.

In 2010, he trained with the Spanish La Liga team Rayo Vallencano.

Bellevue ended the 2012 season with a 10-8-1 overall record. The Bruins finished second in the MCAC regular season standings with a 5-1 conference mark and also placed second in the MCAC Tournament to No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
