Bruins win fifth-straight on Lastra's overtime goal

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team won its fifth-straight contest on an overtime goal by David Lastra, pulling out a 2-1 victory over York College in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday night at Tranquility Park. 

The Bruins improved to 6-6-1 on the season and 3-0 in the MCAC. York fell to 2-12-1 overall and 0-3 in league action.

Lastra's game-winning goal came just 15 seconds into the first overtime as he took a pass from Jacob Cawsey, and found the lower right corner of the net. 

The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation, despite the Bruins holding a 23-4 advantage in shots and a 6-4 margin in shots on goal. 

Neither team scored until Luis Arevalo's shot from 14 yards out found the back of the net in the 80th minute. Nick Mueting was credited with the assist as York took a 1-0 lead.

The Bruins answered five minutes later with a header goal by Alan Carr off a pass from Cawsey tying the contest at 1-1. It was Carr's first goal of the season.

Luke Baxter recorded the win, improving to 5-5 on the season while notching three saves.
