Midland, Bellevue fight to 1-1 draw

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with visiting Midland University Wednesday night at Tranquility Park. 

After a scoreless first half, Jamie Waters gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 47th minute off a pass from Mitch Kavanagh. The Warriors responded 30 seconds later with a goal by Alan Craig, assisted by Andy Jones to knot the score at 1-1. 

Neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the half, with the Bruins' goal keeper Brady Batchelor and the Warriors' goalie Lewis Wilcox both registering two saves in the final 35 minutes. 

Ryan Beasley and Emmanuel Pena both got off shots in the first overtime, but Wilcox kept the contest tied, sending the game to a second overtime. 

Neither team managed a shot on goal in the second overtime.

Batchelor recorded three saves in the contest. Wilcox collected six saves. 

The Bruins (0-3-1) return to Tranquility Park on Sunday (Sept. 9) for a 2 p.m. contest against Westminster (Utah). Midland moves to 2-1-2 on the season.
