No. 19 Benedictine tops men's soccer, 2-0

ATCHISON, Kan. -- The 19th-ranked Benedictine College Ravens defeated the Bellevue University men's soccer team 2-0 Saturday night at the BC Soccer Complex.

The Ravens moved to 1-1-1 overall while Bellevue dropped to 0-3-0.

BC made the most of their shots, as four of their six were on frame. They also held a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.

BC struck first early, finding the back of the net in the 7th minute, on shot by Troy McKerrell that beat Mike Minchew, who was making his first career start in goal.

The Ravens added a second goal at 27:27 on shot by Joe Sbarro from Kenneth Clarizio to give BC a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Minchew (0-1-0) recorded two saves in the loss while Taylor Vinnage (1-1-1) notched the shut out win.

The Bruins will look for their first win of the season when they return home to host Midland University (2-1-0) at 8:00 p.m on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
