SALINA, Kan. -- No. 17th-ranked Kansas Wesleyan University scored two second half goals to lift the Coyotes to a 2-0 win against the Bellevue University men's soccer team Monday night at Salina Stadium.
Kansas Wesleyan improved to 11-3 while the Bruins' two-match winning streak came to an end and fell to 2-12 overall.
Javier Cervantes took a pass from Noe Ramirez at 70:33 in the second half and beat BU goalkeeper Luke Baxter to give the Coyotes the one-goal lead.
Alex Chavez gave KWU an insurance goal with just 3:09 remaining in the match for the 2-0 win.
Baxter notched four saves while Alex Montiel recorded two in the shut out win.
KWU out shot BU by an 11-7 advantage, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.
The BU men's soccer team will return to Tranquility Park on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they host Central Christian College at 4:30 p.m. in MCAC action.
