No. 22 Columbia blanks Bellevue, 2-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to 22nd-ranked Columbia (Mo.) College Tuesday afternoon at R. Marvin Owens Stadium.

With the win, Columbia improved to 9-2-0 overall while Bellevue fell to 0-11-0 this season.

The Cougars opened the scoring in the seventh minute on a goal by Marko Paunovic that beat BU goalkeeper Luke Baxter.

CC added to its lead just 89 seconds into the second half on a goal by Parker Rawdon.

Matt McKenna, who entered the match leading the NAIA with a .330 goals against average, registered two saves. The Cougars now have eight shut outs on the season. Baxter recorded one save in the loss for the Bruins.

CC out shot BU 15-6 and also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Manuel Lira and Rob Jackson each registered two shots and a shot on goal to pace the Bruin offense.

The Bruins will begin MCAC action on Saturday, Oct. 8 when they travel to Bethany, Okla. for a 2:30 p.m. match against Southwestern Christian University.
