No. 18 Benedictine tops BU, 3-2

OMAHA, Neb. -- Eighteenth-ranked Benedictine College scored two goals in the first three minutes of the second half, then withstood a furious Bruin rally as the Ravens posted a 3-2 win over the Bellevue University men's soccer team Wednesday night at Tranquility Park.

The Ravens improved to 5-0 while the Bruins fell to 0-7 on the season.

Alex DeLuca put the Ravens on the scoreboard at the 28:41 mark in the opening half, scoring on a loose ball in front of the net following a free kick by Alex Lawrence.

Joe Sbarro and Kyle Greig scored goals in the 46th and 49th minutes of the second half to put Benedictine up 3-0.

Bellevue got on the board with 7:55 remaining in the contest following a penalty kick by Ryan Beasley.

Rob Jackson made it 3-2 with a shot in the box that found the right side of the net with 2:35 left in the contest. 

Benedictine was able to hold off the Bruins in the final two minutes to escape with the win.

The Bruins will head to Jamestown, N.D. this Saturday, Sept. 17, for an 11 a.m. match at Jamestown College.
