Kita, Lastra goals give BU 2-1 win over Mustangs

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Senior Leon Kita and sophomore David Lastra scored first-half goals and the Bruins gave up a late goal as the Bellevue University men's soccer team defeated Morningside, 2-1, Tuesday night in non-conference action at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

With the win, the Bruins improved to 7-3 on the season, while Morningside fell to 4-6 overall.

Kita scored on an unassisted goal in the 28th minute to give the Bruins a 1-0 advantage. Lastra tacked on his fourth goal of the season eight minutes later to hand BU a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Ryan Cantello was credited with the assist.

Morningside's Jeremy Lenz scored with 20 seconds remaining in the contest to make the final, 2-1.

Sebastian Narvaez improved to 6-3 on the season, recording three saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.

Both teams recorded 10 shots in the game, while the Bruins held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Bruins return home to Tranquility Park on Saturday, Oct. 9 for a 1 p.m. contest against Westminster (Utah) College.
