OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Mark Heath-Preston scored the game's lone goal as No. 21-ranked Bellevue University slipped past MidAmerica Nazarene University, 1-0, in the season opener for both teams Saturday at Tranquility Park.
Heath-Preston scored off a cross from Julio Estrada into the center of the box from six yards out at the 18:35 mark of the first half.
Bellevue outshot MNU 10-6 and held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Senior Sebastian Narvaez recorded the shutout, collecting two saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
The Bruins return to action on Tuesday, Aug. 31, when they host Doane College beginning at 7 p.m. at Tranquility Park. The BU women will take on the Tigers at 5 p.m.
