Araujo featured as NSAA Player of the Week

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University senior Paulo Araujo (Santa Ana, Calif.) has been chosen as the North Star Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Araujo, a 6-3 guard, led the Bruins to a pair of victories this past weekend's at the Gundersen Hotel & Suites Viterbo Invitational.

For the week, Araujo averaged 25 points, five rebounds per game while dishing out six assists, and totaling four steals. He shot a scorching 71% from the floor, including raining down 10 three-pointers.

Araujo turned it on in BU's double overtime win over IU Northwest, scoring the first six points of the second overtime period and eight in total as the Bruins pulled away for a 93-87 win over the NAIA National Tournament participant from a year ago.

He scored or assisted each the final nine points in Bellevue's 83-74 win over Cardinal Stritch, as the Bruins closed the game on a 9-0 run to improve to 5-3.

For the season, Araujo averages a team-leading 16.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He has shot 60% from the floor and 57% from three with a team-high 25 made three-pointers. His 13 steals also lead the team and 16 assists are second on the club.

Bellevue returns to action this weekend with a pair of games at the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic in Columbia, Mo. The Bruins face host Columbia Friday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. before tipping off against Hannibal-LaGrange at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26.
