POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Bellevue University senior guard Lee Ames has been named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week in an announcement made today by the league office.

Ames averaged 23 points, 3.7 rebounds and three assists per game in the Bruins' three conference wins last week. He shot 54.2 percent from three-point range and made 20 of his 22 free throw attempts (90.9 percent).

In BU's 108-62 win over Waldorf College on Feb. 11, he scored a career-high 33 points and set the single-game school record with nine 3-pointers.

For the season, Ames leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game while adding 3.2 rebounds and two assists per game. He shoots 48.3 percent from the field and 89.4 percent from the free throw line. His 48.5 percent shooting clip from beyond the arc ranks fourth in the nation.

The Bruins are currently ranked No. 10 in the NAIA and are 23-5 overall and 10-2 in the MCAC. BU will play host to in-state conference foe York College (15-11, 5-7 MCAC) on Friday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
