2010-11 Schedule

The Bellevue University men's basketball team will travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Monday, Nov. 8 for a 7 p.m. contest at the University of Nebraska in the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Tickets for the exhibition are available through the Bellevue University athletic department, by calling 402-557-7058 or emailing Dorene Narofsky. Fans are encouraged to reserve their tickets early as the BU athletic department has a limited number tickets available to sell.

The Bruins return two starters and five letterwinners from last season's 28-8 squad that advanced to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship semifinals, while capturing both the MCAC regular season and tournament titles. Bellevue finished the season with a No. 6 final national ranking and Bruin head coach Shane Paben was named the 2009-10 MCAC Coach of the Year.

“This is a great opportunity for both the Bellevue University and the men’s basketball program to play Nebraska and everyone here at Bellevue University is excited for this game," said Paben.

Highlighting the Bruin returnees is 6-1 senior guard Avery Tyler, who earned second team NAIA All-American honors last season while leading the Bruins with 16.4 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Tyler also earned first team all-MCAC honors and was named the MCAC co-Newcomer of the Year. In addition, Tyler was named the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald's NAIA all-Nebraska team and was a member of the NAIA National Championship all-tournament team.

Nebraska finished the 2009-10 season with a 15-18 overall record and a 2-14 league mark, advancing to the second round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Huskers have made 13 postseason tournament appearances since 1990, including five trips to the NCAA Tournament.

The Bruins open the 2010-11 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 2 when they host Grace University at 7 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
