Paben signs two local high school standouts
Bruin head men's basketball coach Shane Paben announced today the signing of two local standouts to national letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2010.

The newest Bruins are 5-11 guard Benjamin Imig (Bellevue, Neb./Omaha Bryan HS) and 6-4 forward Derrick Davis (Bellevue, Neb./West HS).

Imig lettered four seasons at Omaha Bryan High School under head coach Tim Cannon. He earned second team all-Metro Conference honors during his senior season and was named to the Metro Conference all-tournament team. Imig averaged 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds per game during his senior season.

Imig helped the Bears qualify for both the 2009 and 2010 Nebraska State Tournaments.

An excellent student, Imig was named to the academic all-state team and was a member of the Honor Roll all four years. The son of John and Rosemary Imig, he earned Bryan's Outstanding Student Award.

Davis earned honorable mention all-state honors at Bellevue West High School under head coach Doug Woodard. He averaged 11 points and five rebounds per game during his senior season and helped the Thunderbirds to an appearance at the 2009 Nebraska State Tournament .

Davis is the son Debra Davis.

“I am thrilled to have both Ben and Derrick added to our roster for next season,” said Paben. “I look for them both to have great careers here at Bellevue and help the program accomplish its goals. It is our great fortune to have two very good high school players, who have had great success, from the metro area come to Bellevue."

Imig and Davis join 6-4 guard Donald Jones (Omaha, Neb./Central CC/Central HS) who signed with the Bruins last December.
