Three Bruins earn all- MCAC honors
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Three Bellevue University men's basketball players were honored Friday afternoon, as the 2009-10 all-MCAC team was announced. The MCAC regular-season champion Bruins had a league-best three honorees, as \#Avery Tyler\#, \#Ron King\# and \#Antoine Dade\# were named to the select 10-member team.

In addition, \#Shane Paben\# was named the MCAC Coach of the Year.  Tyler and Dade were named co-Newcomers of the Year. Senior \#Jace Fredenburg\# earned honorable mention accolades.

The selections were announced in conjunction with the 2010 MCAC Men's Basketball Tournament being held this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27 at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center on the Bellevue University campus.

Picked third in the MCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll, Paben guided the Bruins to the 2010 MCAC regular season title with an 11-1 conference mark. Bellevue started the season with a 3-6 record, but has now won 20 out 21 games and is currently 23-7 overall.

Tyler, who earned MCAC Player of the Week honors three times this season, leads the Bruins with 15.4 points and 2.3 assists per game. He recorded a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds in Bellevue's 97-89 victory at Central Christian on Jan. 16.

King, who earned second team all-league honors a year ago, is second on the team with 12.2 points and 2.0 assists per game. He earned MVP honors at the Briar Cliff University Holiday Classic after guiding the Bruins to wins over Morningside and Briar Cliff, including a 24-point performance in the 80-76 win over the Chargers.

Dade, who missed the first seven games of the season, leads the Bruins with seven double-doubles while pulling down a team-high 9.8 rebounds per game. He ranks third on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game. The Bruins are 20-3 on the season with Dade in the lineup.

Fredenburg, who earned MCAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 22, leads the Bruins with 65 3-pointers and is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game. He currently ranks seventh in school history with 117 3-pointers.
