BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Junior \#Avery Tyler\# scored 29 points to lead the Bellevue University men's basketball team to a 99-75 victory over Central Christian College in the semifinals of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Friday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
The Bruins improved to 24-7 on the season and will face fourth-ranked and second-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday night at 6 p.m. in the championship game. The Eagles defeated No. 23 College of the Ozarks, 87-65, in the tournament's first semifinal.
Tyler added eight rebounds and three assists in the win. Senior \#Antoine Dade\# collected 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior \#Josh Vanderslice\# was the third Bruin in double-figures with 12 points to go along with three assists.
Central Christian was led by the nation's leading scorer Sean High, who poured in a game-high 44 points on 16-of-35 shooting from the field, including 8-of-16 3-pointers.
Tyler and Dade combined for 27 points as the Bruins built a six-point halftime lead at 45-39. High had 23 first-half points, including 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.
Bellevue heated up in the second half, shooting 62.5 percent from the field, highlighted by a 16-2 run midway through the period that gave BU a 70-49 advantage with 12:21 remaining.
The Bruins led by as many as 30 at 92-62 following a 3-pointer by \#Richard Marion\# with five minutes left before cruising to the 99-75 win.
