PERU, Neb. -- The 11th-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team clinched at least a share of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season crown with an 86-54 victory at Peru State Saturday night in the Al Wheeler Activity Center.

Bellevue improved to 21-7 on the season and 9-1 in the MCAC. The Bruins have a two-game lead in the conference standings with two regular season games remaining. Peru fell to 5-23 overall and 2-8 in league play.

The Bruins raced out to a 22-2 lead and never looked back in recording their 20th-straight win over the Bobcats in the all-time series.

Senior \#Ron King\# led the Bruins with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Sophomore \#Jelani Johnson\# recorded his first double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Redshirt freshman \#Carlos Perez\# added 14 points and 7 rebounds in just 12 minutes of action. Junior \#Avery Tyler\# was the fourth Bruin in double figures, finishing with 11 points.

Steve Burks led Peru with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

Peru shot just 6.45 percent in the first half, connecting on 2-of-31 shots and committed 11 turnovers as the Bruins built a commanding 38-8 lead at the intermission.

A 3-pointer by \#Marcos Perez\# gave Bellevue its largest lead of the game at 37 points (72-35) with 7:39 remaining in the game. 

Peru was able to get to within 30 following a 3-pointer by Joe Santo that cut the deficit to 72-42 with 5:49 left in the contest.

The Bruins return home next Friday, Feb. 19 for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Haskell Indian Nations at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
