Chaz Lopez joins the Bruin coaching staff for the 2022 season, continuing a tradition of former Bruin players joining the coaching staff.
Lopez spent the final two seasons of his five-year playing career - that spanned four Universities - at Bellevue University where he was a terrific student-athlete, earning both NSAA and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2020 and 2021. A two-way player, he appeared in four games on the hill for the Bruins but exceleled as a hitter with a career .300 average and .961 OPS. He totaled 17 extra-base hits, and 35 RBI.
Having already earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Lopez is currently working on a master’s degree in Professional Communication with a concentration in Effective Coaching.
