Bellevue University head cross country/distance track coach Craig Christian announced today the signing of Ashley Guatemala-Ortiz (Omaha, Neb./South HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2023.

Coach Christians stated that he and assistant coach Barbosa visited Omaha South today to sign Guatemala-Ortiz to the 2023 Bruin cross country team. Ashley brings an excellent academic record to BU as she was a member of the Metro Conference All-Academic Cross Country Team as well as a South High Honor Roll Student of the Month. She intends to study Criminal Justice at BU.

Coach Christians: "We're looking forward to working with Ashley and feel like she has a lot of potential to help us move the program forward. We know that Coach Tripp has built a good training foundation for her, and we're excited to see how she will build on that."

The Bruin distance track teams will travel to Crete, Neb., this Sunday, Apr. 23, to compete in the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic on the Doane University campus.
