Steve Field is in his fourth season on the Bruin volleyball coaching staff in 2012 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha under head coach Rose Shires from 1989-2008.

While at UNO, Field was also the school’s associate sports information director for 19 years.  He handled media relations for the school’s 16 intercollegiate sports, led a complete overhaul of the UNO athletic website, served as the department’s publication coordinator, and updated and archived the department’s statistical records.

Field is an active member of the NAIA-SIDA - the NAIA's Sports Information Directors Association, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). For three years, he served on the CoSIDA Publications Contest Committee.

Field has earned 24 “Best in the Nation” awards from CoSida, recognizing excellence in producing, designing and editing collegiate athletic publications.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Field earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from UNO and recently completed his master's degree at Bellevue University in 2011.

A native of Gretna, Neb., Field helped lead the UNO Maverick volleyball team to the 1996 NCAA Division II national championship and to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Field, who also serves as Bellevue’s sports information director, has five children: Kaitlin, Olivia, Kaleb, Jonny, and Zach.
