Bellevue University volleyball under the direction of Trish Siedlik announced the signing of 5-6 libero/defensive specialist Maya Morales (West Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2021.

Morales, the daughter of Jose and Aide Morales, played under head coach Tricia Curty at Iowa City High School, where she was a three-time honorable mention all-conference performer. She compiled 254 digs, 28 service aces, and 18 assists during her senior campaign.

She was named a "Player to Watch" by Prep Dig magazine in 2019-20.

A multi-sport athlete, Morales also participated in basketball, soccer, track, and dance during her high school career. She qualified for the 2021 Iowa State Track Meet in the shuttle hurdle relay.

Morales played club volleyball for coach Greg Allen at Iowa Rockets Volleyball Club. She helped lead her team to three appearances at the USAV National Championships.

An excellent student, Morales was a four-year member of the National Honor Society.

"Maya is a fast, intense, fun player to watch that brings energy to everyone around her," said Siedlik. "I am looking forward to seeing Maya raise her game!"

Morales joins earlier signees Haley Fleischman (6-0, MB/RS, Overton, Neb., Overton HS), Taylor Kudym (5-10, MB, Eagle, Neb./Waverly HS), and Sidney Sledge (5-10, S/RS, Omaha, Neb./Marian HS) in the 2021 recruiting class.

Bellevue finished the 2020 season with a 17-7 overall record, making its 13th appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. The Bruins won the program's first-ever NSAA regular-season title with a 12-2 league record. BU finished second in the NSAA Tournament earning an at-large berth to the NAIA National Tournament. The Bruins defeated Texas Wesleyan to earn a trip to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa.
