Holz, Walker garner conference honors

Sophomore libero Taylor Holz and senior setter Beth Walker both took home North Star Athletic Association accolades for their performances in the Bruins' four matches at the Grand View University Tournament last weekend. 

Holz was named the NSAA Defender of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 5.6 digs per set on the week. She registered a season-high 33 digs in a match versus Jamestown. Holz totaled 84 digs in the tournament while adding four service aces. 

Walker was selected the NSAA Setter of the Week for the third time in 2015. She recorded double-doubles in all four matches and fell just short of a triple-double as Bellevue went 2-2 in the tournament.  She posted 10 kills, 41 assists, 8 digs and 6 block assists in a 3-1 upset victory over No. 10 Evangel (Mo.). For the week, Walker averaged 9.9 assists (149 total assists), 3.3 digs (49 total digs) and 1.6 kills (24 kills) per set.  She recorded a hitting percentage of .242 , while adding 12 block assists for the week.

Walker has recorded a team-high 23 double-doubles on the season, including the last eight matches. 

Bellevue will travel to Kearney, Neb. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 for a 7 p.m. match at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. UNK is currently ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division II.
