BELLEVUE, Neb. - Junior Symone Faulkner (Denver, Colo.) has been named Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week as announced by the MCAC.
Faulkner was instrumental in helping to engineer the Bruins' 4-0 week totaling 49 kills, hitting at .356 for the week. Against Briar Cliff she registered 13 kills (.200 hitting) with four block assists. She followed that up with a nine kill (.263) effort with a block solo and three block assists in the MCAC opener against Central Christian. She concluded the week with great games against both McPherson and Kansas Wesleyan. In the McPherson game Faulkner tallied 10 kills (.529) and had a block solo and a block assist. She led a huge comeback against Kansas Wesleyan. Trailing 2 sets to none Faulkner helped key the turnaround with 17 kills (.533), a block solo, and four block assists against the home standing Coyotes.
The unbeaten week means that BU has now won eight in a row following an uninspiring 0-11 start to open the campaign.
Bellevue will compete next at the Clarke Tournament in Dubuque, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26-27. BU will take on Cardinal Stritch and Robert Morris on Friday night with game times set for 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. They'll wrap up the tournament on Saturday against Mount Mercy and host Clarke at noon and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
