Bruins win MCAC regular season title with sweep over CSM

MCAC Standings

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team won the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title with a 3-0 (25-16, 29-27, 25-21) sweep at College of St. Mary Saturday at the Lied Center. 

Bellevue finished the regular season with a 32-9 overall record and a perfect 13-0 mark in the MCAC. The Flames fell to 16-19 overall and 8-5 in league play. 

The Bruins will host the six-team MCAC Tournament next Friday-Saturday, Nov. 9-10. Match times and pairings will be announced on Monday. The winner of the MCAC Tournament will receive an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament. 

Annie Benson and Symone Faulkner combined for 21 kills to pace the Bruin offensive attack. Benson recorded 11 kills and nine digs. Benson finished with 10 kills on .421 hitting while adding a match-high five blocks. 

Jordan Broady directed the BU offense to a .250 hitting percentage, collecting 41 assists, seven digs, six kills, and two blocks. 

Meghan Evans registered a match-high 26 digs to anchor the Bruin defense. 

The Flames were led by Kaylee Wallace's 12 kills and seven digs. 

Notes:

  • This marks the first season since 2009 that the Bruins have gone undefeated in regular season conference play.
  • Trish Siedlik has now won nine MCAC regular season crowns in her 11 combined seasons at CSM and Bellevue
  • The Bruins have advanced to the NAIA National Tournament five-straight years.
