BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Sophomore Sunny Bell pounded 13 kills on .500 hitting to lead the Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) sweep over St. Xavier University Saturday afternoon in the Bruin/Premier Classic. 

The Bruins (23-8) will conclude the tournament with a 5 p.m. match today against third-ranked Columbia College. SXU fell to 20-8 overall. 

Sydney DeBoer finished with eight kills and a match-high six blocks. Meghan Evans anchored the BU defense with 11 digs. Jordan Broady dished out 33 assists, while collecting five kills and four blocks. 

Kayla Mullaney and Colleen O'Hara paced the Cougars with nine kills apiece. 

After trailing the majority of the opening the set, the Bruins used a 15-4 run to turn a 19-11 deficit into a 26-24 come-from-behind victory. BU fought off two Cougar set points in the win. DeBoer (4), Bell (3) and Benson (3) combined for 10 of the Bruins' 14 kills to lead the comeback.

The second set featured 12 ties and five lead changes as neither team was able to go ahead by more than three points until BU ended the stanza on an 8-3 spurt to pull out a 25-20 win. The Bruins hit just .139 but recorded five total blocks led by Broady and DeBoer who each tallied three block assists.

Bell was on fire in the third set, registering nine kills in 12 swings and the Bruins raced out to a 10-3 lead. SXU fought back with a 16-6 run to tie the game at 19-all. BU ended the match on a 6-2 run, highlighted by three kills from Bell.
