Volleyball sweeps weekly conference honors

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team swept the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference's weekly honors. Jordan Broady was named the Setter of the Week, Sydney DeBoer earned Hitter of the Week accolades while Meghan Evans was named the Libero of the Week.

Broady, who was named to the all-tournament at the Ashford Saints Invitational, averaged 11.9 assists per game last week. In BU's only loss of the week, she recorded her team-high seventh double-double, notching 54 assists and 10 digs. The two-time honorable mention All-American also guided the Bruins to a .375 hitting percentage, its second highest this season in its sweep against Clarke University.

DeBoer tallied 47 kills and 21 blocks in the Bruins' five matches last week. She led BU with 12 kills in its sweep at Waldorf College while recording a season-best six block assists versus Clarke.

Evans anchored Bellevue's defense, averaging 5.2 digs per set last week. She registered her eighth match with 20 or more digs, recording 23 at Ashford University. This marked Evans' second career MCAC Libero of the Week honor.

No. 23 Bellevue (14-5) will be idle until they travel to Olathe, Kan. for the MidAmerica Nazarene Tournament on Fri.-Sat., Sept. 21-22.
